Finding Your Roots Seminar
Since 2012 the Forget Me Not Family Society has had a display and information booth at the Annual Finding Your Roots Seminar in Surrey, BC, held at the Family History Centre, 6270 – 126th St, Surrey, BC. The seminar offers over 30 free classes about genealogical research throughout the day.
October 2012 Report:
The Forget Me Not Family Society had its first presence at the 2012 Finding Your Roots genealogical seminar. We had at least 30 people visit our booth, about 10% of all conference attendees.
Visitors were glad to hear that our society existed. We answered lots of questions about adoption search and reunion, and provided information and handouts about provincial reunion registries, reading lists and support groups. We gave stacks of FMNFS brochures for the BCGS and Family History libraries, which often get requests for resources about adoption research.
Nancy Kato gave a classroom presentation entitled “Family Tree or Family Stump…The Adoption Perspective.”
We look forward to attending next year’s event. ~ Amy Newman (Adoption Circles #63)
